Health System Strengthening Project (MaMoni)

In July 2016, Shimantik started its ACCESS Project by the financial support from USAID/MCHIP. This program was came as the scaling up of the PROJAHNMO research project. Later in 2010, the project was renamed as “Integrated Safe Motherhood, Newborn Care and Family Planning Project (MaMoni)”. The project was implemented in four upazilas of Sylhet district and four upazilas of Hobigonj district. Since in 2013, the project has got another name “ health system strengthening project (Mamoni)” and continue to till date. The long term goal of the program is to improve maternal and neonatal health. The overall objective of this project is to increase the practice of healthy maternal and neonatal behaviors in a sustainable and potentially scalable manner. MaMoni is also strengthening

evidence-based interventions, both at the health facility and in the community, including: breastfeeding, hand washing and hygiene for newborn health; management of the Low Birth Weight (LBW) babies and essential maternal and newborn health services and practices. At the national, district, and local levels, MaMoni is galvanizing stakeholders around priority interventions, collaborate with them to scale up programs, and apply effective, innovative approaches that is accelerate delivery of MNH-FP services.
