Shimantik has started its health service delivery activities in 1998 in rural six upazilas of Sylhet district. The project�s name was Rural Service Delivery Project (RSDP) which was funded by USAID through Pathfinder International. Later it was implemented in different names like NSDP, SSFP and at present, it is continuing as the NHSDP. Shimantik has been implementing NHSDP in eleven (11) upazilas of Sylhet district namely Zakigonj, Kanaighat, Beanibazar, Golapgonj, Balagonj, Fenchugonj, Companygonj, Osmaninagar, Biswnath, Jaintapur and Sylhet Sadar.

Through this project, Shimantik provides essential services packages (ESP) services which include reproductive health including family planning and child health services to the underserved people of the rural areas. Shimantik charges fees for its services but approximately 40 percent of the people who are very poor are provided free service. The program is being implemented with active involvement and participation of the local communities and will be continued to till December 2018.
